Get seperates. Hi-fi VCR's go as low as $70. Toshiba, JVC, Sony, Panasonic are good TV brands.

I second the vote for Panasonic, especially their flatscreens. Color is a lot deeper than Sony, plus they have better blacks. Strongly against getting a VCR combo, very tough to find a quality one with S-VHS input. Why not forego buying a VCR and get a tuner card for your PC? Use the tuner card as a VCR, save all your shows onto hard disk.

Does the Tau do the 16x9 squeeze thing for DVDs like the Wega? I think it does but I'm not 100% sure...

Only the higher end Wegas do that. The 20" models are pretty bare as far as features.

Holy sh!t! What the hell is wrong with you people: :D

decent quality and features but low cost.

You guys are talking about ultra expencive models (most of the posts I've read so far). :)

JVC's are a nice brand. Our's been flawless after 5 years. Stay away from RCA though.

My 27inch FS12 (the plain model) does it, but not automatically, you have to enable it in the menu.
