One of my friend and me are putting together a gaming rig for him,i.e, I'm helping him out.We settled on these :-

CPU ─ Intel i5-3570K

MOBO ─ ASRock Z77 Performance

GPU ─ GTX 560 Ti / HD 7850

HDD ─ Seagate Barracuda 320 GB SATA III @ 7200 rpm

RAM ─ Corsair Vengeance Blue (2x4) GB 1600 Mhz

CASE ─ Cooler Master Elite 430

Monitor ─ Hannspree SL231DPB

Keyboard & Mice ─ Logitech (cheap ones)

UPS ─ depends on PSU

With all these decided we felt quite relaxed but our headaches started when I remembered of the PSU.Now please guyz help us.I have discussed this on the Topic $ 800 Mid Range Gaming Rig for a pretty long time and now we have our rig plans ready xcept for the PSU and UPS.

Thanx a lot to everyone who read this and much more thanx to those who reply.

Why Asrock Z77 Performance, if I may ask? Z77 Extreme4 offers a better feature set for less $, including full SLI/CF support.

Get the 7850, 560 Ti is not even an option really. 7850 consumes 50W less power, overclocks 3x better, has twice the VRAM. I'd get a Sapphire card, the cooler is very good.

As for the PSU, the XFX 650W is a nice unit and only $75 ($60 AR) on NCIX.US, it's powerful enough for 3570K+7850 CF with heavy overclocking.

Well we will never do Crossfire or SLI.What xactly I want to know that will I be comfortable with a 650 W PSU with heavy GPU OCing and i5 running @ 5 Ghz ? Can a 550W or 600W PSU do that ?

You won't be able to overclock the i5-3570K to 5GHz without water. What cooler are you planning to get?

The 650W PSU is good for any single GPU and CPU combo with heavy overclocking, and most dual GPU setups as well. Ivy Bridge and a single 7850 in particular don't consume much power, the PSU will not even be stressed to half its capacity.

If you're not interested in CF/SLI, you should take a look at Asrock Z77 Pro4. The Extreme4 is still a good choice for heavy overclocking, it has more power phases than Pro4.

Yeah that's why I left out Pro4,its power phase design didnt let me think that I will be comfortable while OCing.

Well if its water then I will limit my OCing fantasies to 4.3 Ghz only. But in Newegg I saw a customer wrote that the Extreme 4 is a bit thin board,I mean it flexs a lot.Right now I'm curious to know that will there be any performance difference between Extreme4 and Z77 Performance ?
i tell this cuz ASRock tells that Z77 Performance is their best price/performance mobo.Maybe its a business trick, but do suggest which will be better.

I can't find any reviews of the Z77 Performance, but generally motherboards differ in performance only by a percent or two, nothing to worry about. What matter are the features and usability of the board.

You'll be able to get to 4.3 with pretty much any Z77 board. The extra power phases only come into play when doing proper overvolting which also increases power consumption exponentially

Have you not decided on which air cooler to get? A hyper 212 evo should achieve 4.3 in most cases, but if you want to be certain you'll get there at decent temperatures, get a Hyper 612 or a Scythe Mugen 3

Okay,its Extreme4 then.But which PSU should I opt for - 550,600 or 650 W ???

Regarding fan heatsink,i think the default one should be fine.

You'll never get 4GHz or above with the stock heatsink. You'll be thermally limited well before you hit that.

For overclocking, you must get an aftermarket cooler. The default cooler will sound horrible and not cool very well if you OC with it.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like you're shooting for the stars with your OC. I recommend the Z77 Pro4, it'll perform well enough I'm sure.

Since you're not interested in SLI/CF, Seasonic M12II 520W would be powerful enough.
