need suggestion on flea/tick/bug killer for puppy

Besides going to the vet and buying the 15 dollar for one dose of frontline, will the stuff I buy at walmart/petsmart work? do you guys have any suggestions that you guys use on your puppies that does a fairly good job of killing fleas/ticks/bugs? something not too expensive to buy and will work.

ex: I bought the 'hartz' flea collar and the 'hartz' flea shampoo, and it doesnt seem to work at all.

any brands you guys use from the local grocery store?

petshed.com They ship from down under so you don't need a prescription for the heartworm medicine that you would in the states. Revolution is heartworm, and tick, flea all in one. As for the strictly flea/tick stuff you don't need a prescription over here. Frontline plus is good I hear.

I bought some revolution a couple days ago for my 2 dogs. I had used Frontline in the past and it didn't do anything on them. With the Revolution, they don't have any fleas, but it's only been 2 days since I gave it to them.
