Spec:
E6600 retail box
MSI P6N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI
WINTEC AMPO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
Foxconn FV-N88SMBD2-ONOC GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 575core/1800mem
Seagate 500gb SATA 7200.10 drive
Antec True 2.0 550watt EPS PSU

Shooting for 3GHZ 24/7 at stock volts on the CPU, with stock heatsink.

Is Oblivion still the most graphics intensive game out???

Please post any suggestions for games or overclocking advice.

I have a Gigabyte S3 with E4300 at 3.2GHZ was no problem, is there and major problems with the 650i nvidia chipset compared to the 965 intel chipset.

any tweaks would be appreciated.

Yep.

Isn't Flight Simulator X also a monster of a game? Or is that one more CPU than GPU bound?

Supreme Commander
Company of Heroes
Gothic 3 (Haven't played it yet, but is known to be video-intensive)

Oblivion with the texture mods with all eye candy on will bring any computer to it's knees. But you probably don't want to spend that much time prepping Oblivion with all it's texture mods....

But yea that computer would choke on it. But things start to look pretty good like This The game can look even better than this but I didn't have time to put anything together.

It's more a problem with how fast your hard rive can spool the info because the textures get so big.

You could also do Stalker. The last TR had special calls that make the game only run good with the 8800 series with it's next gen content. Otherwise it was a stuttering mess.

Any game running xS super sampling AA modes should do the trick.

actually its a really badly made game that runs quite bad even on my setup below (now with 3gb ram).

rofl i have oblivion with all the texture mods you could imagine and my 8800 gts doesnt flinch... 100fps sometimes !

oh and F.E.A.R. with supersampling and 16xq at 1680x1050 brings the frame rate down a lot
supreme commander is nice with fidelity turned up but its more cpu bound.

Try Rainbow Six: Vegas. I have to run it at 1024x768 if I want to max out all the settings on my machine.

What resolution do you play at? Is that with HDR+AA also?

In oblivion I used to (just upgraded havent tried it on new system) play at 1680x1050 with hdr + aa... I had numerous texture mods that enhanced the resolution of the textures. I think i ran at 8xq getting playable fps in the wilderness. 16xq brought fps down but it was barely playable. as far as other nvidia advanced settings, i might have had supersampling, mipmaps, and triple buff on but i cant recall. This was all on a p4 3.0 ghz machine with 1.5 gbs of low frequency ram and my 8800 gts. I just installed oblivion on my new machine in my sig, my e4300 is at a humble 2.7 ghz only and my gts is overclocked to 620/920. Im curious how it will run (especially on vista). Ill update with some benchmarks at various settings.

Try it high resolution...cause you are getting better FPS than even the Anand review machines.....

You guys are all wrong!

Try: Company of Heroes under following settings.
  1. 8-player map (Route N-13)
Control Panel set to High Quality
    8AA(or even in-game AA)/16AF
    Max in-game setting
Chances are the game wouldn't even launch due to lack of frame buffer.

supreme commander running on 2 monitors i'd assume would kill anything if you turn on everthing.

Yea i meant in door with the 100+ on oblivion, obviously it was lower in the wilderness... i think around 30-50 fps with 8xq?

Even Doom 3 can be pretty demanding with full details. Try it at 2560x1600 with 16xQ and watch your card cry.
