Howies...

I'm looking for a decent ipod speakers for around $250ish...but I guess I can spend more if I have to...
also, it'd would be a definite plus (but not MUST HAVE!) if it can be connected to my laptop since my toshiba laptop (s4 211) has very low volume level...

These are the ones that I've found so far...

1. Ipod hi fi - just becuz it's from apple... with decent quality, yet high price...
I could use this for my laptop using airport express but it would cost extra..

2. Bose Sounddock - I don't know much about it but it sells alot nowadays...

3. Altec IM7 - best bang for bucks according to many reviews.

4. Klipsch IFI - costco had it for $200 somewhat years ago but its current price is too high now...worth the price?

5. or am I better off buying decent PC speakers? (ex. klipsche promedia 2.1/gmx2.1/ultra)

I'd really appreciate yall helps...

Klipsch iFi. It's got excellent sound, fairly good bass reproduction, and it's by far the best deal.
Even if you paid 300$ for it, it would be an excellent deal.
The only constraint is the lack of portability.

Yes, compared to it's original price ($179 refurbed, $200 at Costco), it's definitely overpriced.

Some Costco's still do have them, I've seen them recently in the Bay Area, but supplies are definitely down. The rage has always been "looks over performance" in the PC speaker arena and now it's "portability over performance" again. So, Klipsch had no reason to continue selling the iFi, which they already did at a loss anyway. Just comes to show, you can release the best performing product in a market and still lose the big one without a solid marketing job.

I don't know if it's worth $300 compared to bookshelves that can be had for much cheaper, but obviously if you limit yourself to PC speakers alone, then yes, I would pay the premium to have the iFi. Yoyo's setup is really nice for budget music listening.

My roommate got an iFi. I do remember that Klipsch forgot to package a stereo mini cable to the system--pretty retarded. Just because it's advertised as an ipod player should not mean they leave out a $5 cable.
