Hmmm....my friend is peddlin car audio shi0t, and he was buying some Audiobahn 4 ga. wire, or some crap like that, at 1.29 a foot. Does the same apply, e.g. I go to home depot, cut some 4 ga. wire for cheap, and sell it for the same price?

If you have 4 binding posts, the gold color clips are the jumpers for when you're not bi-wiring the speakers.

So, connect your cable to either binding post, and then make sure the jumpers are hooked up so that both posts get a connection.

The jumpers should connect the same color posts, and not bridge between black and red.

edit: I personally find copper cable with clear insulator ugly as hell, so I don't use it. If you're going to be using pretty short cables, consider a place that has basic monster cable. Locally, they sell some 16gauge monster for about 25cents a foot, which has a really nice jacket to it. 12gauge is nice, but if you're using 10' lengths, you'd probably be hard pressed to hear a difference. Even a basic non-ugly 12gauge wire should be available for well under a dollar a foot

One of the main reasons to use banana plugs is because of the way they screw down on the wire; this keeps a very clean surface, for all intents and purposes non-oxidizing, between the wire and the banana plug. From there, the signal goes through the gold banana plug into the (hopefully gold) banana terminals on the speaker itself. That way you keep rust away for much greater periods of time.

Just like to point out that I do use set screw type Banana's on the speaker side, while on the reciever side, I just put the wire into the 5way binding posts and tightened down hard. I have almost no rear-clearance, otherwise I would probably use banana's.

BTW: Bay Bloor Radio (downtown TO) has dual banana plugs for ~$15 a pair. CAD :D

Good, because it turns out that Home Depots here don't carry them. Go figure. Are these gold-plated and all?

I wouldn't expect home Depot to carry Banana plugs :Q

I bought a pair of their crappy ones, but they're gold plated dual banana's.
Seem pretty solid too.

There was a thread on this a few days ago (I'm too lazy to look). Your best bets are to either buy the cheapo lamp cord from Home Depot/Lowe's/etc. or if you're really ambitious (or just have it lying around) you can make some pretty good ones by braiding CAT5.
