They're not built as well as bookshelf speakers, anyhow. Even if you build your own budget satellites, you'll wonder how they can make them so cheap.

The Z680 can be had for dirt cheap when dell offers 10-20% discounts and they always offer free s/h which a huge factor.:)

I have the Ultra's....they are very nice!

Z680's have a few more input options, and a remote.....and are cheaper....and still sound very good........not as good as the Ultra's, but close..

Neo, any idea how the ultras sound compared to the standard Promedia 5.1s?

Mani, I have never heard the standard 5.1's from Klipsch.

I've heard the z680's and z560's from Logitech, both versions of the 4.1's from Klipsch, and several of Creative's 5.1 setups (DTT 3500 and Megaworks 5.1).

The 5.1 Ultra's sound the best out of all of those, but the z680's are pretty close, have more features, and are cheaper.

id say klipsch ultras, although i havent heard them. ive heard the z680s, and they are alright. i know a lot more about 2.1 speakers rather than 5.1.

I was in your same situation, I went with the Z680's because they have built in dolby digital and DTS decoding, the klipsch don't. Plus I couldn't find a killer deal on the klipsch.

I placed my order saturday for dell home, 10% off 299 so $270 no tax free shipping. You could wait around for a 20% off s&p for dell small business BUT with tax and shipping it works out to be the same. If you don't get charged tax for dell small business then I'd say wait. Also if you can get a 10% stackable that'd be the best deal.

I couldn't wait :D

I was fortunate enough to get into the Dell deal a while back. Got them for $200

They sound really nice, but sometimes the sound is oversaturated. But you have to listen really carefully to tell the difference anyways.

Kilpsch are very nice but they can be very pricey

I think Z-680 provide the best bang for the buck

I'd say the Logitechs, because they are cheaper yet sound quality is more than good for computer use.
