We're having a gathering today (I smoked a brisket and a couple pork butts, yummmm). Thought we'd put together some background muzak.

Looking for real stuff, good stuff and cheesy stuff. None of it stronger than PG rated.

Only stuff I've come up with so far:

Tom Petty: American Girl
Neil Diamond: Coming to America
Lee Greenwood: Proud to be an American
Elvis: America the Beautiful
Grand Funk Railroad: We're an American Band

"God Bless the USA," Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA, 1994)
"Peaceful World," John Mellencamp (Cuttin' Heads, 2001)
"God Bless America," Celine Dion and various artists (God Bless America, 2001)
"Undivided" Bon Jovi (Bounce 2002)
"America the Beautiful" Ray Charles (Ultimate Hits Collection 1999)
"The Star Spangled Banner" Jimi Hendrix (Live at Woodstock 1999)
"Only in America" Brooks & Dunn (Steers and Stripes 2001)
"Independence Day" Martina McBride (The Way That I Am 1993)
"Land of Hopes and Dreams" Bruce Springsteen (Live in New York City 2001)
"America the Beautiful" Elvis Presley (America the Beautiful / If I Can Dream 2001)
"Blowin' in the Wind" Bob Dylan (The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan 1963)
"America" Neil Diamond (Jazz Singer 1980)
"Living in the Promise Land" Willie Nelsona (The Promise Land 1986)
"American Child" Phil Vassar (American Child 2003)
"On the 4th of July" James Taylor (October Road 2002)
"Song of the Patriot" Jonny Cash (Song of the Patriot 1990)

"Back in the USA" either/both versions by Chuck Berry or Linda Ronstadt
"This Land is Your Land" loads of versions, best by Woody Guthrie or Bruce Springsteen
"City of New Orleans (Good Morning America)" by Arlo Guthrie
"Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John

"God Bless America" by Kate Smith

If you want to throw in a little patriotic cheese there's always "The Ballad of the Green Berets".

Toby Keith - The Angry American
Some dude - Proud to be an American (where at least I know I'm free, bla bla)
John Ashcroft - let the eagle soar (youtube it, get it in mp3 format)
Team America - America f*ck yea

FYI, just because a song has "American" or "USA" in its title does not make it "patriotic".

I take it from your first song choice "American Girl" and a hummer in your avatar, you're a fan of Michele Bachmann?
