Need something light & portable for classes...

I'm taking 2 classes in the fall, and find myself needing another laptop for them. I currently have a work-provided 17" monstrosity that is too bulky to be portable or useful in a classroom with limited desk space. I also have a 15.4" ASUS G1 series, but anybody who's played with one of those can attest to how heavy they are, and how big they are thanks to a weird bezel.

So I'm looking to pick up something different for school. I'm taking a C++ course and a GIS course. It definitely needs to be cheap. I don't need anything really powerful. Mostly it's just going to need a comfy keyboard. And I need to be able to stick XP on it.

So, I (think) I've narrowed my choices down to a Wind, an Aspire One, or the Eee 1000h.

Anybody have any experience typing on any of these? How's the keyboard quality? Is one significantly better - or worse - than another?

The price of the Aspire One is much lower than the others. The Wind looks most appealing. And the Eee 1000h seems to have the best battery life, by far. So I'm totally lost here.

theres a good thread on the first page or two in this subforum that goes over all the netbooks and if youll go through the last couple of days youll also find one or two people who have these things.

Of those I would go with the Asus but if you can hold out I would wait and see what the Lenovo offering turns out like.
