my dog always faces east or west when he poops
i wonder if this is the case with other dogs?

i have a very very large yard (3 acres) and i take him out on a leash most of the time (because he likes to run away and roll in crap) and when he has to do his buzyness, he'll start to sniff and head either east or west, never north/south, so he ends up mostly facing east/west when he does the p00ping

if you have a very small space to walk your dog, i think it would invalidate the situation as your dog may not have time/space to get lined up this way

thoughts?

My dog poops while it's running across the yard. Doesn't even stop.

lol. And if that's your dog as your avatar, then he needs to run and poop more.

My Dane usually faces South or East now that I think about it. Winds usually are coming from the Southwest. Not sure how the other two dogs face.

Dogs like people learn there surrounding and poop time is sort of something that's important to us all for lack of a better term.

In my yard my dog picks usually 1 corner by a bunch of foliage to go. At dog park he picks only areas right at the fence line. Usually in the same corner he would at home...however; sometimes at dog park that corner is occupied...then he sort of walks the fence line until he finds a more appropriate spot. People have commented on that. It's the furthest points from dog and people paths.

On our walks he has 1 or 2 usual locations....about 90% he will go there. This usually only fails when there are interruptions to him getting to those spots. Most of the time it's some asshat flying down the street at 55mph or more booming their stereo or worst taking a swerve at us on the roadside.

Dogs have habits just like people.
