Title says it all. With the current season ending we're looking for some new shows to either watch this summer or perhaps catch up on. We have access to pretty much anything (I heart Newzbin) that has been out recently.

Recent shows we've watched together:

Hell's Kitchen
Big Bang Theory
Top Chef
Survivor
Amazing Race
24 (on season 3 right now catching her up)
Two and a Half Men

Shows we are thinking about starting up (need input):

Rescue Me
Heroes
The Unit

Any good/interesting shows that we would enjoy together?

The new season of Burn Notice on USA Network starts June 4th, and is a light-hearted, fast-paced action show.

Catch up on some old shows...like Heroes, watch from EP1 though, or you will be confused....there are a lot of shows out there to watch.

Some no-brainer funny 30minute comedy

How I met your mother
New adventures of old Christine
Rules of Engagement
The Office
30 Rock
My name is Earl (sounded lame to me, but is actually very funny imo)

Good 1 hour shows:
The Unit
Lost (from the beginning)
Heroes

I've heard Heroes is decent. I think I may try that. UK Hell's Kitchen eh? Is it much different? Does Ramsey do that show too?

Heroes & BSG decline in quality significantly after the first seasons. BSG is a more gradual decline that results from regular abuse of continuity, extremely cliched stories, and pulling stuff out of rectal cavities. It starts during season 2. Heroes is just hopeless after season 1 because it's just basically the same story told with variations over and over again. There is absolutely ZERO concern for continuity in Heroes.

The Wire, Dexter, Deadwood, Mad Men, The Shield, Rescue Me, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Breaking Bad, Flight of the Conchords, Entourage, and Veronica Mars are all shows I'd recommend. The quality may vary, but it never degenerates into complete garbage like BSG and Heroes did by the end.

If you are going to watch BSG & Heroes, stop after season 1. If you don't think you could do that, then watch them last...

Eureka is one of the last decent shows on Sci-Fi and should be starting up again soon.

I am just finishing Freaks and Geeks and just starting Oz.

I have to say, I think I missed what was so great about Freaks and Geeks. It is overall a really lame cookie cutter high school drama. The comedy is always something to be desired and if they'd tone down the drug references (there are very few to begin with and all very innocent by today's standards), it'd be the type of show shown on the WB or nickelodeon during the day. I also find it very hard to like the characters.
However, with that all being said, it easily has the most badass compilation of music of any series ever. I can say that with superb conviction. I couldn't believe how amazing the soundtrack was. Most episodes have a theme and they all are filled with badass classic rock.

Oz I have only watched the first disc I am frankly amazed by the amount of murder and man rape. Well done HBO.

Green Wing on Hulu!!! Hilarious Brit hospital comedy. Took me a few episodes to really get into into. 5 & 6 are the best though.

I've never seen the Hells Kitchen UK version. Is there a decent, legal way to watch that online? Does Netflix have it?

Well, the Unit has been canceled so a little late on that train. But get the first seasons from online places and it's an AWESOME show and CBS is making a huge mistake in canceling it.

For current stuff, definitely go check out Burn Notice. It's a fabulous show. Again, go find the first 2 seasons online first so you know what's going on. Everyone I've turned onto that show has loved it.

Burn Notice is better than 24. There, I said it. But it's still just B action fluff - in a good way. The best part about it, though, is all of the good times you'll have narrating your own life in that same voice. "WHEN you're TRYING to make RISOTTO, you HAVE to keep adding CHICKEN STOCK."
