Okay, I'm getting ready to build my 2d computer to replace an old workhorse, and I've decided on the Abit KR7A-RAID mobo w/a 2000+ CPU. I'm/will be running Win2k.
Couple of questions:
1. Sound: I have an extra SB Live Value card. It conflicted with the Abit KT7-RAID I currently have, and I replaced it with a Phillips Acoustic Edge card. Is the sound on the SB Live Value card as good as the Phillips' card? I'd like to save the money but I'm particular about my sound quality.
2. Video: I'm trying to decide between the GeForce3 Ti 500 and the Radeon 8500. Is there a real difference between the two re: performance and/or cost? I also want the card to have the same features as the Matrox I have, i.e., VIVO, dual monitors, etc. if possible.
3. Case: The one I selected is the EMS SX1040B - has a 400watt power supply. Anyone heard anything negative about it?
4. Cooling: The heatsink I've picked is the Taisol - have one now, and really like. On Taisol's web site, they have two of them for the 2000+xp but I don't know which one is the better one.
