I am helping a friend build a computer and he would mostly use it for gaming and a small amout of video editing. The budget is $800 plus or minus a little but not more than a grand. this is what we have so far
ABIT KN8 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Kingston HyperX 1GB (2 x 512MB)
SAPPHIRE Radeon X1800XT
HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 160GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s
ASPIRE ATX-CW500WP4 500W Power Supply
AOpen 16X DVD±R DVD Burner

so far the total is $720 but he still needs a case. All types of suggestions are welcome thanks.

things to consider -
for gaming i would go 2GB as 1GB is getting maxed out especially with the resolutions the gpu will afford him

if he can wait intel is droppig their prices in about a month and you could get a good deal on a dual core setup, that would probably help him in the video editing dept. if nothing else, hopefully amd will counter with a price war :) :) :D

get a antec case with a 450+W psu and save a bit
