I have a Compucase LX6A19 that I purchased from Jim at Coolcases.com. I ordered the Mod 3 setup using Panaflo L1A 92mm on the right (back of motherboard) side, a Yates Loon 120 (Orange Smile ) in the front & rear & also had him punch out the left side panel for video cooling & am using a Panaflo L1A 92mm there as well. I'm controlling the Panaflo's & the front Yates w/a Sunbeam rheostat. I'm running a Corsair HX520 psu and an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro on the 3200+. My 9800Pro is cooled w/the Zalman VF700 setup. Hdd's are a Seagate 120gb & a WD 160gb.
I'm getting ready to upgrade my system & was contemplating a new case as this one's a few years old, but I can't seem to find any (reasonable) that I like better & that's of the same quality. I'm going w/an AM2 setup...Asus M2N SLi Deluxe, X2 3600, 7600GT, 320gb hdd (will be adding a 2nd when my budget allows). I'm torn between continue using my Freezer Pro or an Opteron OEM 4 heatpipe heatsink.
I'd like to quiet this puppy down some & was trying to find some alternative to the $9x Dynamat stuff...perhaps something I can pick up @ Home Depot or Wally World.
Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks!

Okay, here's my suggestion...

If you're smart, you'll keep this PC in a room other than your bedroom.

If this isn't feasible, at least turn it off when you're not using it.

End of problem... :D

You should try the Antec P150 case as it has sound damping material already and suspended hard-drives.

For my system the loudest part is the damn Power Supply during load :(. All my fans are semi-silent and my V900cu is at the lowest setting as that cooler is louder than anything in my computer if it is higher than lowest setting, blah.

But than again my apartment is pretty quiet therefore my bedroom is 10x more quiet and i can not stand leaving anything on in my room, i even hear the hum of the hard drives or electrical part in the computer with idle state. So i would do what VinDSL said and either turn it off or put it to sleep. Sleep Mode in vista is very fast and turn off all my fans on my machine so it works as it should unlike my HTPC machine which keeps my fans on. Not sure if this is WinXP thing or a Mobo thing so i just turn it off when i am not using it.

I think the noisiest part of my machine is the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro.
I just got a Corsair HX520 & replaced the 2 Panaflo M1A's w/Yates Loons.
I turned all the fans off except for the rear 120 & the cpu fan (of course) & I think that's where the noise is.
I'm hoping this OEM Opteron heatpipe will be quieter, but I don't know.
I'll install Vista & try out the sleep mode as well.

Egg cases are supposed to be good for sound proofing. Not sure if they would absorb heat though.

I used a lightweight vinyl sound dampening material on a full size case to good effect.

Link

It looks good and it is very easy to work with. My only warning is that the adhesive is strong and sticky, so make sure you have it positioned carefully before you stick it down. Oh, and it also comes in smaller sheets if you don't want to do the whole case. Link2

Or EBAY

Look for DynoMAT. And lay it on the side pannels.

But let me warn you, Even the best sound absorbing materials will only get the low and rattle sounds. Sometimes there even good at absorbing the high pitch small fan noises.

But if your thinkn about hard drive motor, or Ticking noise your hard drive makes, then NO.

You need a Hard drive enclosure thats a good heat expeller, as well as sealed.

in my case its impossible to get rid of my hard drives high pitch whine.

Anyone know of a way to silence 4 screaming raptors?
And yes there on RAID.

And yes its incredibly fast. Windows loads up from loadup bar to taskbar in 5 sec. Its actually 5.XX and yeah i timed it.
