hey all,

i have a finance project to do and need some stock picks. my job is to analyze them to see if they would be good buys or not.

please remove ebay. ;) AMD is a decent company but selecting Intel would've been a stronger pick. Intel is now close to its original amount. It's around $31 right now and expected to go higher. You might want to select a consumer products company like Proctor and Gamble. I'm not sure about home depot. I think they're going to take a hit in the near future. Alot of home fixing/furnishing companies are failing. Sears Home life, Strouds, Home Base/House2Home.

Select a bio-pharmaceutical company. Also select a communications company that deals with broadband.

Cooper Medical.
Qlogic
JDS Uniphase
Tyco Intl

add
AEP American Electric Power (currently paying a nice dividend)
ANF Abercrombie and Fitch (as solid finances as they come....I think 0 long term debt)
JNJ Johnson and Johnson (will always be a good bet)
C Citigroup (you need a financial services company in your mix)

solid companies that will really help you diversify..........and don't you dare pick up JDSU.....waste of money

are these big company stocks that arent gonna move....or little companies that you could make money on.

want my pic for a stock that is gonna move BIG soon.

VLNK - Vialink. its at ~.36 should be in the dollars soon.
VRDO- decent earnings, 14 cents, could go up.
COMM- Could be good
XOXO always good.

cisco and sun, so cheap for such dominate companies.
and, oddly, msft seems to be going up a lot.

who woulda thunk it

wow, thank you for all the replies.

AMD and Intel were a toss up, didnt want both.
i think ebay would be a good pick, its a pretty solid company. also, heard somewhere that this christmas, Ebay should expect a higher volume of sales compared to the retail chains dur to market conditions. we'll see

i can pick any stock, doesnt matter how well it's doing, thats what my analysis is for, i have to conclude on whether or not we should buy or sell the stock.

will add a bio-pharmaceutical, communications, and financial services company.

thanks again for all your recommendations,

*EDIT* does anyone know any companies that make the SMART CARDS? i hear their gonna be standard issue for the armed forces.

Intersil = ISIL

You guys should know about 802.11b and how it is one of the most exciting things to come around in a long time. They are the chipset manufacturer with 70% marketshare. Kind of pricy but definitely one to own for the wireless LAN revolution.

I had to pick two stocks for my business ed class, too! I picked MRVC and Microsoft. I made like $800 on MRVC already, $100 on Microsoft. Too bad it was fake money. But I got 100% on my project.

Get a defense contractor like Lockheed-Martin or Boeing or Northrop-Grumman or whatever. They are gonna be doing good cuz of increased military orders for all thats going on in afghanistan.

Also Northrop just bought Newport News Shipbuilding, making them the nations largest shipbuilder which is gonna be a big boost.

I rather choose NVidia than AMD as a chip stock right now. Their earnings are growing much faster, and their stock is performing much better than most tech companies.

Besides, AMD has already recovered from it's lows. It was a great deal when it was at $8, but now it doesn't have much more upside potential.

Also, I'm not sure about EBAY, but I guess that it's worth a shot. I made money off of that stock in the past, but I don't think that this Christmas is going to be a blockbuster for them.
