well worst think ever just happened, my comp just died, i restarted because i needed to and everything was working fine before i restarted, so i do it and it shuts off comes back on and at the bios screen where it usially shows the HDs proc speed and ram it just freezes, im like WTF so i restart it again, same thing happens, I notice that it says ram PC2100 i have PC2700 in there 1 gig 2x512,
so i think ok mabye a ram stick died no biggie, welll i test and boot with each stick, same issue, i reset the cmos now it says PC1600 still wont boot, i unpluged all my HDs and it still hangs, doesnt even get to the HD detection part with or without them connected, it sits there and teh CPU access lite is colid, so then i pulled the CPU out, AMD XP 1700+ its been runnig srock speeds for ever and always been fine, examin it and its fine no cracks/burns
the mono has a LED indicator on it and it reads 52 and for my 8KHA+ mobo it says to " test all ram clear extended memory to 0"
well i tested it dont mnow how to clear that tho
but im guessing my mobo is dead, i cant possibily thing of anything else it would be, and this sucks i need my senior thesis!!!!! its on all 3 HDs im gonna have to pull it and pop it in another comp
if you think my mobo isnt dead suggest something for me to do/try
otherwise recomend me a mobo and ram for a A64, 3000+ - 3400+ dont know exactly which one id get
