Ok here is the scenario:

I have a 17 year old daughter in law that was secretly dating an illegal alien that is 29 years old. She is pregnant now and only me and my wife know about it. She is about 8 weeks along. She burst into tears when she told us and now she is considering marrying this guy. I want to call the cops myself but we are all gonna sit down and talk about this Friday. Her mom will probably have a stroke. How would you guys handle this?

Please only serious replies as well. Thanks.

Edit: Looks like you are. Well, I'd sit the mother down and just be there for them. That's what family is for, even in the worse times.
 
Wow, do you know the guy at all? Is he a decent human being? Because you're looking at staturary and a free bus trip back to TJ, assuming he's an hombre. If you know the guy and the girl has been dating him long, then marriage is not a bad way to make him legal. But if he's a scum bag, I say "burn him at stake".
 
My vote goes toward meeting the guy. If you decide you don't like him, alert INS with all info you've got and urge your daughter to get an abortion or put the baby up for adoption, based on your personal beliefs.
 
Wow man, in all seriousness pregnancy is no reason to run and get married. I'm not trying to start a debate but does she want to have the baby, I'm guessing she does not know. So your wife is her step mom and her real mom does not know yet? I would not call the cops yet as that will just complicate matters. Best thing is probably adoption.

wow, thats insane, she should have told her mom much sooner, could have more options. Marrieing the guy might be a little extreme depending on how the guy is. Just becuase he is an illegal alien does not mean he is worthlessPOS. How long is waiting from when she told you guys, and when she is going to tell her mom. Cuz if i was her parents and my daughter was having a kid and was 8 weeks in i would be f'n pissed that she couldn;t come to me, but i don't know how close they are. Hope everything works out for her. But if the guy is a POS, i would call the cops on him, get him thrown in jail and reported. I HATE ILLEGEAL ALIENS. get here the way you are supposed to, my parents did y can;t you.

Talk to her about getting an abortion and hope that she learned her lesson. She too young to start a family.
This might be harsh, but chances of her succeeding in life with a baby at that age is very slim.

Er, uh....she's your "daughter in law"? That makes no sense. Is she your STEP-daughter?

Why is she considering marrying him? Because she' pregnanat, or because she loves him? (The former is bad, the latter is still bad, but not as bad). Dude, she's 17; not saying it's impossible for her to be mature enough for this (my brother-in-law was 18 when he and my sister had their first kid, and they're now married and have three of them and are happy), but at 17 if she's having sex qith a 29-year-old, I would imagine there are some things that need to be addressed.
 
I'm married to her SISTER so actually she is my sister in law. My bad. Anyways, I think the guy did this so that he can become an american citizen. The guy is a total punk. Also, he's 29 and she just turned 17 so that should say enough by itself.

Abortions aren't things to be entered into lightly. No matter how set a woman is on getting one, they cause long term psychic damage. And her chances are not 'slim', depending on the kind of person she is. Don't think anyone here can gauge that, only someone who knows her. But let's not write her off, yeah?

Edit: She's your sister-in-law; big difference, thanks for clearing that up. The WORST thing you can do is yell and scream at her, that will just send her off to him and eliminate any chance you might have had to really talk to her. I suggest sitting them both down together and finding out wtf they want to do.

Oh, and talk to HIM separately and bring a bat for threatening purposes.

Abortion is never a light matter. It's a very serious matter.. I'm not saying you have to do this, I'm just saying that it's an option.
 
pro life... she got in a relationship with him for some reason. she might not be legal to vote but there isn't anything you or the police could do is age of consent is 16.

I don't think I'd encourage marriage, adoption would be best for all if she would be able to go through with it. Certainly not any easy decisions ahead. I would press charges against the 29yo (illegal alien or not).
