I have an opportunity to get a D300 for a nice price and I'm considering selling our D70s equipment. Basically:

D70s + 18-70mm lens + lunchbox bag
D70s + 50mm f/1.8d lens + V-bag

Was wondering:

1. What price I should be asking for them (second owner, well cared for, adult-owned)
2. Where the best place is to sell them (AT forums, eBay, Craigslist, Nikon forums...)

Thanks :)

You should know better than to ask for a price check on this forum. Go to E-Bay and see what is being charged, especially for "Buy Now."

True, no price checks allowed; I'd edit that out. But I can tell you what I've sold equipment for recently:

D70s body $385
50mm f/1.8 D $80
18-70mm $185
Bags? Include them as freebies.

I sell all my stuff on eBay or CL.

Edited the title, thank for the heads up.

I'm planning on going with a D300 and an 18-200mm VR lens. Any particular accessories that would be good to go with? :)

I just sold my two D300 bodies as well; $1225 each. 18-200mm VR for $575 (new) and $520 (used).

The only accessory I bought was an MB-D10, which I'm keeping on the chance that I buy a D700. It's a solid grip; feels like part of the camera, adds a vertical shutter and buttons, plus 8FPS.

Otherwise get yourself a nice Nikkor and really unleash the potential of the camera. The 18-200mm VR is a great lens for sure, but it shines with a fast prime. Nikon 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8, AF-S 60mm f/2.8 Micro, 105mm f/2.8 Micro VR, 105mm f/2 DC, 135mm f/2 DC, 180mm f/2.8...

The camera will be used 99% of the time for my wife's photography business (mainly children running around at the park, families, etc., nothing in a studio), which is why I'm looking at the larger zoom. It has VR too, which is definitely a plus as some of the handheld shots come out a little blurry. I know it's not the "best" lens to go with, but it's fits our current budget and will be an upgrade from what we have now. Plus the D300 will be a good base to build on with future lenses, as my budget allows hehe.

what are you getting to replace your D300? I need to upgrade from a D70 to maybe a D300 or D90....

Depends, I need to see some reviews first. In particular:

Canon 50D
Canon 5DMk2
Nikon D90

Right now, just from early info, it's looking like:

50D - not interested
5DMk2 - very interested
D90 - very interested

I know the D700 is a solid camera; I'm just curious to see if the new 5DMk2 is A LOT better, which is what it would take to get me to switch to Canon.
