Need some phoneline networking help ASAP!

I've spent all day installing DSL and a HomePNA 2.0 network for a friend. I've finally got the DSL connection working, and their laptop hooked up to the DSL via ethernet. Now I'm trying to hook up the upstairs desktop via HomePNA 2.0. This stuff is complete crap. Now I know why Netgear was clearancing it out so soon. I just can't get it to work. The desktop never links up with the router (2wire HomePortal). A few times I've managed to get it to sync, but it never lasts. Last time I finally got it working we got a phone call five minutes later and immediately the phoneline network died. :| Any tips here? It's also quite confusing trying to do all this stuff with the DSL filters at every phone.

As for the actual wall hookup with the desktop, it's simple. I have the filter plugged into the wall. The HomePNA card is plugged into the DSL/PNA part of the filter, and the phone is plugged into the phone part. I have no idea what's screwing up.

I think I've got it fixed. I talked to the DSL tech support, did some tests, and determined the Netgear HomePNA card was dead. So we switched it with a D-Link and it seems to be working.
