Need some opinions.

I would like to upgrade my computer but im not sure what I should upgrade. I plan on upgrading to a 7950 video card and to a MOBO that has SLI not sure on what mobo yet but I plan in getting a ASUS of some sort and 2, 1gig sticks of ram. Right now I have the AMD-4400 Duel core processor. I am wondering if I should just keep that or should I upgrade to

Or should I just get a new 939 socket mobo that has SLI. (Im trying to save money) What I really want to know is the Intel that much better then the AMD I have? I know socket 775 will be better in the long run if I ever want to upgrade to say, the 6800 Intel.

If you got the bucks, C2D is the way to go but be prepared to spend at least $1200 plus for the new rig.

You can get a ASUS SLI on ebay for about $80. All you need is a 7950 card.

Why not keep your current processor and motherboard and get a 7950GX2 rather than SLI, or wait a bit for the next nVidia GPU which should be out shortly?

It's your money but it seems a bit expensive to upgrade either your entire system or even just your motherboard for SLI.

The Conroe is great but the X2 4400 is no slouch either.

I have an AGP mobo. Im not really upgrading for SLI im upgrading for better graphics and future upgrades.

I agree with Varun...I think the cpu will not make as big a deal as spending the money on the video cards....We are gpu limited in todays games and resolutions...not cpu bound...plus very little games actually take advantage of 2 cores now.....

If you are on an AGP board then I guess you have to upgrade. I still wouldn't spend the extra on an SLI board. Use the savings towards a better single card solution.

I think im gonna go with the intel e6600 s775. What would be a good mobo to run that with and the AX GeForce 7950GX2 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI and 2 1gig sticks of ram?

The Asus mobos seem to work better with the 4mb cache C2Ds....But that is mainly when it comes to ocing....If you dont plan on ocing then getting a Gigabyte 965p chipset like the S3 for 115 is a good price...Even on that board with a little investment in perhaps some good 667ddr2 or 800ddr2 ram you can likely get that E6600 up to 3-3.2ghz....

Do yo plan on ocing?

I don't plan on ocing, don't know how plus I don't have the proper cooling for it.

Then get a cheaper 965p chipset as they will run just fine....
