Need some new running shoes....

I need a comfortable pair of running shoes. Does anyone swear by a particular brand or style? I currently have some Nike Shox but they're losing their soles and arent comfortable anymore. Any suggestions?

I hate Nike, will never run in them. 2 brands that I am fond of are Asics, and Brooks has come a long way. It depends on your foot and body size though. If you are a little "bigger", New Balance is the only way to go. I have run in Asics for about 4 years now, and have never looked back.

are you looking for light weight? cushioning? width? Picking running shoes is complicated I personally have narrow feet with high arches, and nike tends to cater to those needs. Im currently running the Nike 2:45's, great cushioning in the fore foot, and nice extra stiffness provided in the heel by the shox. I'd personally recommend going to a shoe store with a wide variety of running shoes, and brands and trying on what suits you best.

It ALL depends on your foot.

Is your arch normal, high, or low? Do you over-pronate or under-pronate (supinate) when you run, or do you have a neutral gait? It's best to know these things, if you're looking for a specific shoe. You can always go down to a good shoe store (if you have a running store, there will be people there who can help you choose a good shoe) and try on as many pairs as you like. Take a practice run down the aisle and buy the pair that fits the best and feels most comfortable for your foot.

Also, what do you run on? Concrete, dirt, trail? This is important for choosing a regular trainer or a trail shoe or whatever you need.

Don't buy a shoe just because of the brand, or just because of the features it has. There are a lot of good running shoes out there, and they're all different. You have to choose what's best for you. If you really want brand names, though... My sister loves Mizuno shoes, and everyone I know who was in the Army swears by New Balance. The New Balance shoes I've tried have been very uncomfortable for my foot, though. Everybody is different.
