How can I make my files smaller? I'm wanting to upload this file to my website but it's a little too big to offer up for my readers to download with killing my bandwidth. I have recorded a 3 min 30 sec clip from a show using my tv tuner and after exporting into AVI format the file is 65MB.

I've been using the Custom template. The file size does not change no matter what size (X/Y) I choose. Video compressor is Xvid MPEG-4 Codec with no audio compressor. Nero version is 6.3.1.19

import your video
go to Streams --> Stream List (this should bring up a window of "available streams"
Right click the Source --> Full Processing Mode (this will make the "Compression" option available)
You should be able to take it from there. If not, post away :)

Thanks HN. I've been able to find the audio compression options now. The only prob is no matter which option I choose for the audio compression I get the error: Error intitializing audio stream compression: The requested conversion is not possible.

Any other suggestions?

You're not trying to convert a mono audio stream to stereo are you?

in the menu where you Right Click the stream, there should be an option for Conversion. See if converting it to mono (and then choosing your compression), does any better.

MS Windows Media Encoder is free and will convert DV-AVI well. Alternately, you can load the AVI into Windows Movie Maker and export it as a WMV. 3m 30s should compress to about 10-12MB for 320x240 at 768kbps.

This is so frustrating. I gave up on VDM. Have been trying using MS Windows Media Encoder for the last hour and it won't convert using that program either. I have no problem using it to capture a clip from my tv tuner and encode it how I want but it's refusing to encode this AVI file. Do I need to use any special plug-ins or something in Win Media Encoder?
