I may be considering getting an LCD monitor for my computer in the near future. I have done a little research but now I want to hear what your opinions on the matter are. First of all, I really like the CRT monitor I have (as far as quality and performance goes.........it is a Philips Brilliance 107P.......its max res is 1920x1440 which was practically one of the highest resolution monitors at the time when I bought it). Any ways, it has developed some discoloration in the top and bottom corners of the right hand side of the screen. Not to mention, it is a pain to lug back and forth to college.

Do you guys think LCD monitors are definitely the way to go these days? I have heard of a lot of problems with pixels going dead prematurely. Is this the case with most LCD displays? If you think LCDs are the way to go, which brand gives the best bang for the buck. I have heard good things about a company called "NU." They seem to perform great for a reasonable price. Are there any other brands out there that I could get a nice 17" display for under $300?

I "gave" my new LCD monitor to my wife and went back to my CRT.
Better picture and text on the CRT, even though the LCD was highly rated.
And that is my opinion.

I suggest you get a lot of viewing time on the LCD before you buy.
Good Luckkkkkkkkkkkkkk

It depends. LCD are almost always too slow for gaming, except for the new benq 8ms one, which is only 17 inch. It's pretty hard to justify an LCD for gaming.
