Need some insight

I just ordered a Black pcb Radeon 9800 pro from Newegg . Some people say it performs 5% slower and overclocks poorly but i've also heard the opposite and that its an excellent overclocker. Can anyone shine some light on this ? I see no reason for it to be slower than normal.

i have no idea. but if i read your other post correctly, you hsould have saved 60 bucks and bought a radeon 9700 pro instead.

now why would i buy a 9700 pro when the 9800 pro is obviously better ? I'm just looking for an answer as to why ppl think this card is 5% slower than normal. the benchmarks show no sign of it.

I thought you were on a tight budget? And yes ofcourse the Radeon 9800 pro is *better*, just like the Radeon 9800XT is better than the pro. How MUCH better? Negligible (look up some benchmarks)

i know the difference between the 3 and the 9800 pro is the best bet performance and price wise

Not true: Just from a raw frames per dollar:

UT: 9700 - 0.7/dollar
9800 - .523/dollar

Battlefield :
1.42 vs
1.05

Call of Duty:
.865 vs
.6635

etc etc. Based on 140 bucks (9700 pro) and 200 bucks (9800 pro)

found the stuff i was looking for . The card does perform the same and overclocks high because of the samsung 2.8ns ram
