My computer just started doing something new last night. When I restarted it, it shut down as usual, and then when it went to reboot it just sat there...fans running, CD burner light flashing, no video, no bios apparently. If I hit the reset button, just kinda does the same thing. If I hold the power button to power down and then turn it back on, it boots. The only thing new in the system is the PSU. Antec Smartpower 2.0 500w. I did have it overclocked and was tinkering with memory timings a little, but all that is back to completely stock after I started to notice graphics issues last night in game. (was getting alot of black squares instead of graphics on some things..Sims 2) I changed out the memory with memory from another PC I have and it is still doing it. Also... When I powered off the PSU with the switch on the PSU itself...it usually takes like 2 or 3 seconds for the MOBO light to go off waiting for the capacitors to discharge I assume, but I noticed a high pitch noise come from the PSU when it discharged. So I'm not sure if it's the video card, or the PSU or both.. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Intel P4 2.8Ghz Prescott
Asus P4P800SE mobo
1G PC3200 Kingston Ram
Antec Smartpower 2.0 500W
EDIT: I only hear a very faint high pitch coming from the PS when I put my ear up to the exhaust opening, which varies very slightly with HD access etc. Seems like every other power cycle it will boot. ALSO I noticed that my HDD LED is on faintly, and goes to full brightness when HD access and then back to faint illumination but not off..
