Need some input on what should i get for my new pc

I'm buying a new pc at the end of this month or begining of next month & want some input on what i should get.I'm on a $1000 budget for a complete system & want something good.I also need moniter/keyboard/mouse & speakers.

Plz feel free to post what yous think i should get.I'm not into anytype of gaming so i don't need any high end video card.I'm gonna be using this system to d/l of the net & encode videos.

Here's some ideas on what i'm intersted in -

Barton 2500
P4 2.4C
1 Gig of ddr ram
200 + gigs of hd
cdrw
lcd moniter
black or sliver products.
 
DEFINATELY go for P4, the highest speed you can afford. They are the best by a long shot at encoding.
 
Get the P42.4C. Put it on an ASUS P4P800 motherboard. With the HT technology you can doe something usefull with the spare CPU cycles, like Folding @ Home. 😉

For the Video, if you don't need real high end look at an nVidia based FX5200 or an ATI 9600. You may want a DVD writer if you are getting into encoding videos.
