My current gaming rig is my laptop, with crappy intergrated graphics, the main reason as to why im building a new rig, this time a desk top 🙂
I will use my computer to run Wow, more than that, i want to run Wow at max/ultra settings whilst still getting a good 60+ FPS
a little side addition to this is being able to have iTunes running in the background
here is the build im going on, anything with an Astrix next to it means i am going to definately get that part
Case Antec 900 V2
mainly because, its okay looking, except for the blue leds, decent fans, but im worried about the size if the case, too small to fit my componants in with out a squeeze?
MoBo iv hit a brick wall on this, looking to spend up to £140/$220
CPU AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0Ghz*
CPU cooling/ cooling system cooling i cannot not decide, i have read threads that you can get some cost-effective coolers but i dont want to get a cheap one and then it doesnt work all to well.
RAM G.Skill 2x2GB 1600Mhz 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM*
HDD Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 32Mb Cache SATAII 300MB/s <8.9ms 7200rpm, nothing special 🙂
GPU Sapphire HD 4870 or ASUS Ati HD 4870 'Dark knight'
Both have the option of 512mb or 1gb, but since Wow is more CPU orientated im confused if that extra bit of memory will make a differance
PSU having read alot about this particular hardware im a little off put to choosing on my own judgment, i dont want to spend over £95/$150, so im looking for a reliable PSU with PFC active, 80%+ effec, anything else i need to look for?
i will no doubt over clock my CPU but that is all
on a side note is there anything else i need to look at, screen keyboard and mouse i can sort at a later date
case modding is not important right now, its something i can look at once i have my rig built
feel free to ask me for any more details, i am open to all suggestions, i only really want to go for AMD and ATI simply because they have good performance for the cost
thanks in advance
