Can someone give me some quick info of "day of the dead" ?

Why and why do you celebrate it? Is it related to a religion? Is it a festival?

Like with so many things it's old religion mixed with new. The old religion is the reason it's celebrated, but they tend to paste a new meaning to it, conforming with their new religion. This way they don't have to abandon the old one totally, and this makes it easier to get used to a new one.

They commemorate their dead forefathers.
They gave it a Catholic feeling.
