Need some help

Hello,

Currently I am running a older AMD 64 3000+ system. The motherboard is a k8vse. I bought this system about 3-4 years ago, and at the time it was pretty nice. However, for today standards it is pretty bad.

First off, let me tell you what I am wanting. I have around $300-400 to spend for mb+cpu+mem. I have a nice 450watt power supply and large SATA drive.....I have no desire to play games, but I process RAW images from a Canon and Olympus SLR camera on a daily basis inside Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom. So, I am looking for a setup that will do CS3 well.

I have learned that the E4300 is a excellent chip that is very overclockable, so I am leaning towards it. However, I get really confused on what Memory to buy with this, and what MB. I want a MB that has DVI built in or a cheap video card with DVI (my current card is AGP, and from what I see none of the new boards have agp).

So if you have suggestions, please post them. I am also thinking of switching to Vista Home Premium 64bit (when I get the new mb/cpu so I can take advantage of more ram in the future.

The cheap $15 AR 1GB HP/Crucial DDR2 667 RAMs at hot deals forum will take a capable E4300 3.6GHz. Abit IP35-E is a fine board, but you'll have to pay $90 ($20 rebate expired yesterday). Vista is not ready for prime time. Use at your own risk.
