I don't know much about computers and i'm trying to figure out if i need to put any sort of component in my labtop computer in order to be able to access wireless networks. Can anyone help me? Thanks

If it does not have built-in wireless, then you need a wireless nic pc card. That is just to get started 😀

welcome to the networl Forum.

Laptop might have a Build in mini card.

Or can be fitted with PCMCIA Card (Cardbus).

Example: AirPlus G DWL-G630 Cardbus Adapter, 802.11b, g

Or might use USB Card.

Example: Air Wireless 2.4GHz USB Adapter

If need to buy Cardbus would be the preferred Choice.
