Need some help with Ram placement on my P3V4X.

Well I have 2 128mb sticks and I was planning on placing them in slots 1 and 2. However, my alpha PEPP66 heatsink is blocking off slot 1 and I think slot 2 is a little close to the fins. Should I just stick them in 4 and 5 or 3 and 4 or what? Is there a difference between the performance of the slots. I read at overclockin.com one time that different FSBs could be reached by using different slots.

Just put them in Slot 3 and 4. There is no 5th slot. Shouldn't make a difference with ASUS boards....generally they are faily tolerant and won't affect the performance or your choices of FSBs. If you are worried about FSBs, people have been suggesting putting some sort of cooling on the ICS clock generator at the bottom of the DIMM slots to get FSBs like 160 usable.

Shouldn't matter. I had them in 1&2 like the manual suggests, but when I got a P3125 Alpha, I had to shift them to 2&3. Everything works fine.

Thanks for the replies guys. The funny thing is is that right before I posted this I counted the slots and I still wrote 5. Oh well.

You can put them in any slot I experimented with my board on this issue with no problems at all...
