Need some help with my computer

I just recently built a new computer and it seems to be running fine so far. I decided to run memtest on it, but everytime I run memtest after about a minute or two a long continuous beep will come out of the computer until I stop memtest. The second I stop it the beep goes away. Memtest doesn't show any errors or anything when the beep starts, or stops.
I've tried putting the memory in different slots, and using only one stick at a time in different slots, and it's the same thing everytime. So far I haven't had any problems otherwise with my computer. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

The beep just happened while I was messing around with some screensavers. When I previewed one the noise started, and then it stopped when I ended the preview.

I jsut previewed the same thing and it didn't happen this time though.

I was right the BETA bios is not working for you. you'l have to downgrade it to the last stable bioas and replace the CPU. or keep the CPU and find a board that can support it.

your core temps are at 183.2 Fahrenheit, it's burning the CPU up.
 
Is there a reason that it wouldn't work for me with this board and this BIOS revision, but it's working for others on this board and BIOS. That was one of things I looked around at when I was deciding what to get, and it seemed like for most of the people I read talking about it they didn't have any problems with it.
 
BETA bios's are for people willing to risk their hardware, you're basically the guinea pig for gigabyte to see where the bios needs to be fixed so the CPU will not run hot, or burn up. I would need to see these other people you claim that are using the exact same hardware as you and not having issues, but for now, based on the evidence,either get a board that can natively support the cpu or replace the cpu with one the board can. I'm hoping its not causing any damage to the board when the CPU runs that hot.
 
Damn that sucks. I honestly don't have to the money, after buying this stuff, to get a different board or CPU right now. I don't have any parts laying around either.

I was looking in that PC wizard 08 program, and it said my memory is coming up as ddr2-sdram pc2 (399 MHz) - DDR2-800 Why does it show as 399MHz I thought the memory I bought shoudl be at 800MHz. It does say DDR2-800 at the end of that though. I was just curious.

I know its not a big help for your current problem, which sucks btw man. I really hate to see people have that type of problem

The reason it shows 399mhz (essentially 400mhz) is because its DDR2 or Double Data Rate. That means its running twice the speed it shows, 400x2=800

Atleast your RAM is working

Try setting your cpu voltage to .85v unless you are overclocking. I think the cpu may be running hot.

I don't see what bios you are using. You should use one that supports the cpu.

Beta bioses are not necessarily buggy, unlike beta software often is. Beta software is often buggy because the publisher cannot possibly test all possible combinations of hardware. A beta bios is often written using provisional specs from a hardware manufacturer before the hardware is actually available. So Intel told Gigabyte a while ago that the 8xxxx series cpus would likely have certain specs, but they weren't 100% positive they were the final specs, just likely that they were. Gigabyte then wrote a bios to those specs and called it beta. If the specs change, they will re-write it. If not, they may just drop the beta label.

Nope I'm not overclocking or anything. I've never really done much with changing settings for the CPU before. What kind of effects will lowering the voltage do (decrease performance?)
 
Lower voltage will definately lower temps.. and also could lower stability. If there is a setting for Auto, use that.
