I have just upgraded from a V3 to a K2. 3D is great, but I have a sligt 2D problem: Everything on the desktop has a transparent shadow to the right.

I realize this might be caused by 3dfx stuff in the Registry, and have therefore tried to remove everything related to 3dfx in the Registry with the help of the registry cleaner that is a part of a proggie called Advanced Administrative Tools. However, if I do a search for 3dfx in Regedit, there is still a lot of 3dfx stuff left.

Does anyone of you have a reg. cleaner that will let you do a search for strings and then delete them? I am not familiar enough with Regedit to do it manually and I really dont want to reformat.

Any suggestions are welcome.

the best option is to install windows again...

I never reformat my hardrive when I am reinstalling windows (98 or 2000)...

I change the names of windows (winnt for windows 2000) and program files to a different name..
when I am reinstaliing windows 9x/windows 2000 I choose a different name for windows directory..
is that simply...
and then after the isntalation of the OS I erase them or not (those directory with changed names previously windows or winnt and program files)... sometimes I backup some savegames etc...
no need to wait for a full format...

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is always an option. However, before I resort to a reinstall I'd like to try to clean out the registry. Do you have any tips when it comes to doing that?

Even better still, go to the following site and visit their message board. There is a chap on there that explains exactly, step by step how to do a clean install for a Kyro2 card. HERE!!!!
I hope this helps.
