Hi guys I was wondering if there are any special codings on the XP processors; the old p3 used to have stepping 2 which would OC better. I was wondering this since I am looking to buy a 1900XP and I needed to know if there are any special numbers to be aware of. My other question has to do with memory; does it matter which brand new the mem sticks are? I saw a few different names from Crucial, Micron, Samsung to Corsair. Basically I am just curious if its worth paying an extra 100 dollars to get Crucial memory instead of Micron. Thank you very much for any help guys.

With AMD processor yeilds as they are, close to the top of operational range, I don't think any particular AMD stepping code gives any advantage in terms of overclocking.

Note that AMD stepping codes are very different to what Intel defines as a stepping.

Crucial RAM is Micron.

Samsung and Corsair are top line RAM brands, so you should have no problem with them.

You might also want to check this site for some help with the codes (steppings). YMMV of course as to how far you can go.
