My stepdad is in need of a mobile computing platform with GPS capabilities (does not need to be built in) for his work - the device will be used with the Farm Site software package. He is in need of something rugged (commonly, a PDA is mounted on a ATV handlebar), easy to read (PDA screen is a bit smaller than he'd like), and capable of being fed GPS coordinates.

His employer is recommending an HP iPaq PDA, a garmin 18 GPS, and a few assorted accessories, but he is thinking that the PDA screen is going to be too difficult to read, and would like something larger. A laptop could work, but they're so fragile, and this will be used out in farm fields and be exposed to dust, sun, wind, rain, etc.

I was hoping you guys might help give me some options on this - a tablet wouldn't be out of the question, but they're so expensive and he doesn't need that kind of processor power - a PDA with a big screen would be perfect.

Normally I would just start researching myself, but they need this yesterday and I figured I would defer to the experts.

Thanks.
