Need some help with a ceiling fan.

Looks like the bracket has slots where the bolts come through. Slide the silver bracket and it should come loose. You can hang the fan from the black hook to unhook the wiring.
 
Sorry, I should have added more to is. It does look like it slides, but boths sides look like that. So if you slide one side, it hits on the other.
 
Nah the black washers are metal and connect to the main mount.

Ill go see about the ball slide thing.
 
Are you sure the lower black bracket does not disconnect from the upper black bracket? The pics are kind of difficult to see clearly since they are so close
 
OK We got it. Thanks for the help. 20 years of setting up there just got it stuck apparently. We kept tugging and it just broke lose. DOH. 🙂
