I have an old compaq 5150, that is no longer booting. I had originally thought that it was a bad PS, but I had no way to test it since it uses a wierd 3 connector PS. Something just hit me though. This computer has onbaord video which i disabled in order to use a differant card, but I sold that card recently. Since you need a video card to boot a system would that be causing my problem? I didn't think so at first since I knew it had the onboard video, but if it is not being recognized cause I disabled it, that could be the problem. Any help.

I do believe that you hit the nail on the head. You do need a video card to boot you computer, along with a processor and RAM.

Yeah i thought i did clear the BIOS, I will have to read up on it further. By clearing the BIOS it will set back the original onboard video right?

Also look for a jumper on the motherboard,if you've got the manual look for onboard video settings!

On a ComCrap, i think yu have to hit F10 to get into bios to enable on-board video.
Wierdly enuff, they usally do have a good PS but low in watts cause yu can't add much anyway.
