need some help system not booting

i installed a new peocessor and it started up and then all of a sudden shutdown. now i hit the power button and the computer acts like it is trying to boot but i get nothing. no video on the screen or anything. just the lights from my led fans and then 5 seconds later the power shuts off. anyone help me out please??

i had an athlon 2500 locked and i replaced it with an athlon 2500 unlocked.

sounds as if there is a short somewhere. when you applied thermal grease to the new processor, were you careful not to get any on the bridges? Try removing your processor, cleaning it, reapplying thermal grease, and reseating it.

tip never put cover back on case after upgrades so U can see I fan for cpu spins up and make sure
U pluged it in to correct fan header or MB will not detect fan for cpu and shut down
most time faster than monitor will come up

yep check to make sure you have good grounding, i.e. anti-static measures when handling pc components, standoffs in place, etc. try to boot your pc by taking the motherboard out of the case and place it on a safe place, i.e. non-metallic surface. attach only the cpu with hs and fan, video card with monitor attached, memory and psu then try to boot it up.

 
I'am far from being an expert. But when you put the new processor in did you make sure the small wire(temp. sensor) was not move. If you get an incorrect reading the processor will shut down.
