Need some help setting up a network

hi, I currently am making a comp for a friend and he wants to network his new comp and his odl comp together.

He is currently running @home on his comps, but he'd like to establish file-sharing between his two comps along with printer-sharing. Both comps will be running windows xp.

Assuming I have nothing but two computers, what will I need to get this to work? And does anyone know whewre I Can find a step by step articel on how to do this
