I just got an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo and Barton 2500+ .. However, when I install the latest nvidia drivers I get a bsod after the windows xp boot screen.. STOP: c0000415 Unknown Hard Error .. If I uninstall the drivers it works, but thats crap so I need some help getting this solved.

If you haven't already, try the 1.16 drivers from Asus themselves instead of nVidia's 2.03's. link. Also, if you have any PCI cards, what slots are they plugged into, and what cards are they? Also, what video card do you have?

Good luck with your new rig and welcome to the Forums :D

I do have my sound card plugged directly into the pci slot under my video card but I don't see why that would be a problem.. The card isnt overheating w/o the drivers so it shouldn't be w/ the drivers either.. I also have a NIC card and HDD controller plugged into the PCI slots
I have a GeForce 4 Ti4800 (eVGA)

Pull the Soundcard from under the videocard and put it somewhere else.

Its a frequent problem when the AGP slot and the top PCI slot are both filled. They usually share the same IRQ.

Hi scim22,

It is strongly recommended that You leave the pci slot next to the agp slot free.

With the very good audio on the A7N8X-Deluxe, do you even need an add-in sound card? At any rate, what I'd do is to go into the motherboard's BIOS and disable the onboard MIDI, audio and gameport, if you're going to use a PCI audio card. Look at page 17 of your manual and see what you can do to share IRQs to the least extent possible.

As mentioned before, you should give the Asus 1.16 driver pack a try also.
