Heller, another vote for e-cigs. They have worked great for my wife and I. I know everybody's different, but we have stepped down our nicotine dosage a couple times, so I actually see quitting in our future.

Takes a little while to find the right website/model/flavor that works well for you, but it is much easier to give up on tobacco when you have a product the well-mimics the real thing.

Good luck!

Oh, BTW, they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the real thing too!

I didn't bother reading much of this thread, but I'll second the idea of using an e-cig to ween your self off the real things.

I started smoking at 17-18, mostly black and milds, but moved on to cigs by the time I was 19 and was up to about a pack a day by the time I decided to quit (23).

My recommendation is to try even a basic kit, the Joye 510 is the most common with lots of reviews and information available on the web. I also recommend NOT, I repeat NOT vaping an e-liquid that resembles your cigarette of choice. I smoked only menthols and that was the flavor I decided to start off with and it tasted NOTHING like a real cig and I was very disappointed by this (I actually still have that bottle from 3.5 years ago). Find a flavor of something that you really enjoy, I've ventured out into various fruits, sweets, etc but my all time favorite is RY4 (Caramel, vanilla, tobacco), it's all I vape now.

Start with a high nicotine level, even the common 24mg (considered high), is much lower in nicotine than a real cig, so at first it wont be able to fully satisfy your cravings. But this is ok, use it to ween your self off, it definitely does help take that edge off, the "I need a cig NOW" feeling but it wont be a full replacement in the beginning, more of a supplement. I had a full pack of cigs when I first started vaping, and after a week I still had about 1/4 of it left (remember I was up to nearly a full pack a day at this point). It took that first full week of vaping to ween my self off the real things, and after two weeks I never looked back.

Been (analog) cigarette free since 2009.

Just need to decide you want to quit. Not a I think I should quit but you actually want to.

I made that decision 3 years ago after smoking for 16 years. I used nicorette to help with the cravings for 2 weeks.

just quit cold turkey.. that's the only way.. if you need assistance then you're not ready to quit - but that's just my opinion
