i have 3 computers..
currently 2 of them are connected using 10Mbs phoneline network card from D-Link (DHN520)
the problem is i want to link up the 3 computer also, but buying single d-link card is so expensive..
and i looked around the net and found out that compgeeks sells a 10Mbps kit from Diamond for $15 usd

Since both card uses Broadcom chip inside... i am wondering if the computers will communicate if i link them up using different brand adapters..

I have tried to install the diamond drivers on my d-links and failed...

anyone have any insight?

thx

Can you just directly connect all three comps together? If they all use the same protocol, something like homePNA v1.1 or something, then it shouldn't matter. It's like ethernet cards: if you buy one from linksys, and one from D-link, and hook them together using a crossover RJ-45 cable, they should work together no problem.

I'm not totally sure about this though. Worst case would be you have 2 phoneline nics in one of the comps, to act as the bridge between the two types of phoneline NIC networks. I think that would work.
