hi,
so i am getting a dual woodcrest system, and i need some help on something.
i am torn between this motherboard
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...t_Code=110780&Category_Code=Xeon1333MB
and this motherboard
http://www.iwill.net/product_2.asp?p_id=108

the problem is, the second motherboard is not out yet! but i've heard iwill is more overclocker friendly then supermicro... which board would you recomend?

time is of the essence, since my current rig's memory has completely died on me.

I also need ram recommendations, i would like 3GB in total.

lastly, for psu
i have a http://xoxide.com/silverstone-st60f-600w-watt.html and im wondering if its powerful enough to run
4 hard drives
x1900xt
xfi card
as well as all my new rig

I'll be in the same boat in a month or two. ASUS has one board on their site as well, you may want to check it out.

To be honest, I doubt if the Supermicro will overclock at all beyond a small "burn-in" setting in the BIOS. And judging frmo what I've seen on some Froogle sites (sketchy, admittedly), Woodcrests will not be showing up for a while.

A dualie system will also set you back close to $2000 if you manage to find a couple processors next week. Woodcrest ain't coming cheap for those looking to buy now.

Actually, Woodcrests are already available, if you want to go through Dell (check their small business server page). However, Dell, along with other system builders get first dibs. And I am pretty sure (though I could be wrong) that the first shipments of Woodcrests will be eaten up by Dell, HP, &tc. This will leave scant pickings for us "mere mortals" shopping at Newegg and Mwave.

Furthermore, once Woodies are available at online retailers you can probably expect a pretty hefty price premium for a couple weeks.

Again, I could be all wrong and you'll wake up tomorrow and buy yourself a screamin' Woddy. But I don't think it'll happen.

Depending on the processors you get, it may be alot more then 2k. You'll want atleast a 5130 so you get the 1333 fsb. Then you'll need 667 speed FB-Dimms, they aren't cheap. Figure you may be able to get the 5130 for 350-400 come tomorrow if you get lucky. Then your 1 gig 667 FB-Dimms are running around 200 a stick, you're looking at 400 for just two gigs of memory. Good luck staying under 2k, I doubt even dell can get you a system for that price.
