Need some help getting Linux

OK I have just installed Linux a few days ago and am starting to really like it. I installed Caldera 2.3 because it's the only linux disc I had. I would really like to try some of the more recent distro's but I am stuck on dial-up. Would someone be willing to download and burn the latest SuSE, Redhat, Mandrake, Caldera and Debian distro's for me?

For what it would cost anyone, myself included to burn and ship you might as well just go to CheapBytes and order one of their mondo packs and play around.

Dude, no offense but that's a lot of time used there. I could see if you were willing to give somebody $ for it or maybe just 1 disc but like 4 or 5 and send to you?

They DO package these so you can buy them for a reson, for people on dialup.

Don't mean to be a jerk or anything, just giving my opinion.

Most of those should be available in a local Best Buy. And I think thinkgeek was offering Debian a while back..

Where do you live? (generally so we can work out getting someone close to you if you is po')

Not just for people on dialup, but for people who like the software and want to see more of it.

and for people like me who are too dumb to install it themselves and had it not been for a second PC with constant Linux HOWTO printouts, would have purchased the set purely for the manuals 😀

( installed slack 8 two days ago and got it up and running ALL from howto's, yes -- they are that useful )

HOW-TO's are great. That is another reason I use BSD. Generally the docs in BSD are more up to date than Linux.

Yeah, sure for $35.00 a pop. Cheapbytes.

Its money well spent if you find a good distro that you will use for years (and its more like 45+).

Did not mean to offend anyone, Of course I will pay you for these. 😱 I am not going to ask anyone to put that amount of time and effort into something for nothing. I figured it would be easiest for the party offering to tell me how much they expected to be paid for thier time. Cheapbytes looks good. I should have mentioned that but felt it would be common knowledge. :Q

Cheapbytes my friend. Honestly. Buy mondo, install, play, reinstall, play more. It's the "chipper chicken." 🙂

np. That's how I really got into it. Bought a mondo pack, installed them all, played with them all. Quite educational.
