I spilled an entire pitcher of water (like one gallon) on my carpet on saturday and no matter how much I sopped up in towels it was still damp and is still freaking damp now....

Yesterday it started stinking and now has that nasty soured smell... I put baking soda and carpet freshner on it....and I can still freaking smell it....

Any ideas on how I can get ride of the smell....outside of a steam clean....
Maybe their is some sort of cleaner or something I can get?

I just can't beleive it's still freaking damp.....no matter how much I try to towel up...

Second the wet/dry vac. If it's still wet, I don't see how throwing steam at it will help. Save that for next week 😀

Do you guys mean one of those bigs suckers or just a little one?

and how do I get rid of the freaking smell....it's making me sick..

Yes, we mean one of them big honkin' suckers. 😀

Use a dehumidifier (sp?) to get rid of the water, it will be gone overnight, completely 100% dry. This will eliminate most of the smell, then use a quality carpet cleaner and some air freshener.

Just to update, I bought one of those little handheld jobs and it at least has done a pretty good job of sucking up the baking soda and carpet "smell good stuff"

when i do something like that, i put a 20" box fan next to it and run it on medium or high for a couple of days, it really helps evaporate the water
