I am getting a flat screen monitor for an office setup i'm going to build. I had wanted to get one that has a DVI connection but there aren't to many reviews out there and when i search for one on price watch or any other web site it is hard as hell to tell what kind of connection it has. So i am wondering if anyone has some suggestions on a good brand of flat screen monitor and hopefully one with DVI. oh and i'm looking for a 15 incher only. Thnx

(sorry bout the double post)

I know Viewsonic has the PF77 (17") and PF97 (19"). Both have DVI inputs. The Viewsonic Professional series are typically high quality, but I've not seen these particular models in person.

I just got a Gateway FPD1500 (manufacturer LG Electronics) for $395 new condition. It's been great and hasn't given me any problems. The Yahoo auction seller I bought it from was very friendly and had good ratings, and when I looked at her previous auctions it looked as though she sold 2-3 of these a month. The monitor is a DVI connection, 16.7 million colors, 15.1" viewable, 0.297 pixel pitch, good review (only one, because monitor was never sold standalone) and superior quality. I love the damn thing. Let me know if you want more info.

The FPD1500 is indeed a very nice unit. It's the nicest flat-panel that I have seen in that size. $395 is a steal. I'm eyballing the new FPD1800 for my next possible screen upgrade.

Good price on the FPD1500. TimeThrash is there anyway you could post a link to the review on this board, or send me an e-mail? I'm really interested it sounds good. Incallisto the sgi looks really niceb but i'm still only looking for a 15incher because i'm already hitting on the ceiling on the overall systems price.

if you dont know about dvi get the nec 1525x has analog and digital. The best value for a real nice on is $1600 for the 17" samsung one. Has a built in tv tuner and video in ports.

I know its probably out of your budget but the seventeen inch Samsung's are really nice. The company I used to work for builds mobile internet broadcasting stations and the primary screen on it is a samsung flat panel. I used to help put them together and test them and they look friggin awesome. Great picture quality. I am sure whatever flat screen you end up with you will be happy =)

I *swear* you'll regret going with 15 inches.....oh well, your choice. word of warning: never sit down on a 17+ inch computer in your life until you get one yourself...it will leave you crying over the choice you made ;)

Uh...Prodigy, just to let you know, 15" LCD is not the same as 15" CRT. A 15-inch LCD monitor is just that, 15 viewable inches, whereas a 15-inch CRT means the tube that was used for the monitor (before most of its border was covered up by casing) was 15". On top of that for uniformity reasons the manufacturer may deliberately shrink the tube even more than that.
End statement...if you have a 15" LCD, you're using a 17" monitor. Besides, 17" LCD's are a good $600-$700 more. Not worth it.

That depends on the purpose. If you are a CAD/3D/2D Graphics Designer then you need something like the SGI 1600SW (Wide, 18") if not, you need anything from Sony or Samsung, etc.
