I've got a good summer job and some money to burn, time for a complete overhaul. I've had my current rig for a couple years and I'm ready to upgrade. I could really use some suggestions on the whole thing. At work I had to put together a bunch of 1.33 Athlons for a big rack. Needless to say, its hard workin on lightning fast machines at work and goin home to a system 3 times as slow. Anyway, heres what I'm thinkin right now.

Athlon Thunderbird 1.33GHz 266MHz
PC2100 DDR - 256MB (probably from crucial like everybody else)
Asus A7M266 (also looking at the epox and gigabyte equivalents)
Elsa Gladiac Ultra (if I have enough money)

I'm pretty set on the above, but if anybody has any suggestions on those I'd appreciate it (they suck, they like em, whatever)

The main thing I'm unsure about is cooling and cases...this is where I really need help. I'm not real big into overclocking, but my room is real hot, so I need good cooling. I'm willing to spend a good amount on a case since it's pretty important to the whole setup. My old case right now is pretty geared for my p3 and I'm just gonna turn it into a linux box anyway. I've read about the lian-li pc60 and really like its styling, but don't know if it's worth the 200+ it'll end up being with a PS. Anybody know any good cases similar to that (easily opened up and worked on, good cooling, conservative boxy styling) or whether that one is really worth it. I can't stand all those plastic cases with slide around pop off purple colored deals and I seem to see alot of those. Well....that's about 10 posts worth of questions, so anything anybody has any input on would be great.

Isn't the amd 1400 mhz processor comming out pretty soon? why not go for that. And go for the lian-li case, it is pretty nice, and you will be happy with it once you have it

I like the setup.....but perhaps you should look at a different graphics card like a Hercules or ASUS....

Or wait some more time and go for SIS735 AND Athlon 4 (my way) :D

But it's always the same in the PC-business you wait and wait and wait and...never get a new rig, just because of the hunt for lower prices and new developments...

I think it's the pretty blue colors that attracted me to the gladiac. The brand is negotiable....elsa suck?
