Need Some Good Forum Software...

Right now it is looking like I will go with IkonBoard, unless someone comes up with something better. Like I said, it need not be free, just not looking to spend the amount of money something like FuseTalk requires.

I haven't messed with anything other than phpBB. It's what I have running on my server right now.
Works quite well.

I dislike Ikonboard and YaBB ... when you get a lot of activity on those boards they seem to slow down a lot faster than a php board such as vBulletin or phpBB(2).

I use vBulletin.

It's a forum software used with php / mysql backend that is used by most of the big forums on the 'net. HardOCP uses it (Hardforum.com) for instance. It costs, as well.

It has more admin control options out of any board I've ever seen, Ikonboard is close but not quite as good 🙂

When you say "a lot of activity" what kind of numbers are you talking?

I said above, no FuseTalk, too expensive.

I believe Fusetalk also needs the Cold Fusion server to work as well....add another $3000 to price 🙂

Hundreds of users actively using the board. Like I said before all of the large forums use a SQL database based board or something similar.. or you get the really high end stuff, like here at AT.

You haven't seen Fusetalk's admin section then......... 😀
