Need some flat panel advice

I just received this email from my internship, looks like it went out to everyone.

I think we need to order one or two more flat panels. Last time we ordered 19" Dells, which cost $719. What do you think of these Princeton 19" displays at ecost, which cost $509 with rebate? http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=372518. The only differences I can see are their input connector types, USB vs. VGA. The Princetons come with a 3 year warranty. If I don't hear back from you by tomorrow, I'll order the Princetons.

In case the previous email didn't get through, we have 10 more motes + sensor boards in the lab.

I've ordered 4 more programming boards.

...so I'm appealing to AT for some advice 😉. What are the significant differences between these two monitors?

Well the major difference is quality most likely. I do not know what brand of panel those Princetons use.

Sure the price is right, but eCost.com sells B grade equipment. I bet every one you order will have a few dead pixels on it.

If people at CNet don't like it, it's usually bad. They aren't as picky as most of us. I dunno...I've personally never liked Princeton monitors. I coudln't find the brand of the LCD panel. If it was Samsung or LG it might change my mind.

Anyway, I would think that your company you are working for would appreciate quality equipment. Is it really worth saving a few hundred for something that isn't going to be as good as what you already have and like? That's assuming they do like those Dell's.

As far as other differences, I didn't see a response time listed for either monitor, but do some googling and I'm sure you can find that. The Dell has a much cleaner look, which to me is worth some extra spending.
