Need some advice!

I am looking at building my first computer from the ground up. I know how to put it together but I was looking at overclocking and I would like some advice as to a good place to learn the basics. I keep reading about people changing the HTT multipliers and frequency of their RAM and I have no idea what they're talking about. But I'm not a total noob as I have quite a bit of background with computers. Also, I'm a quick learner so if someone could just point me to some good guides and tutorials that would be great. Thanks.
